Its very procedural, not what I am used to! Briefly, started with a zinc plate, rubbed it with a solution of vinegar and calcium carbonate, wiped it off, put plate on a warming plate thingy for a little bit, applied a hard ground, drew my picture on to it with a sharp point, put the plate into acid, then took it out and cleaned it off.
Its amazing, the acid leaves the impression (can't think of a better word) of your drawing on to it. When the plate was all ready, evenly rubbed ink into the impression then ready to go! (finally!) set up your paper (good tip to let it soak in water for a few minutes, then gently pat dry, this makes the paper easier to work with). Put inked up plate face down on paper, then rub the hell out of the back of the plate with a small, hard flat object (we used door knobs and stuff), or by using a press. Then lift up plate and you are done!
I hope that made sense!! I recommend googling it, will give you a better idea and will fill in any spots I may have missed
